West Fargo, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) A 50-year-old West Fargo man is jailed after police linked him to stolen vehicles. Court documents say drugs and guns were also found.
Stolen Vehicle Report
Police say the case began late Tuesday after a vehicle theft report. The owner reported that a black Volkswagen Passat was running outside. The owner said someone drove off with it.
Investigators reviewed nearby camera footage, according to court documents. The video showed a man exit a silver Chevrolet Aveo. Police say the man then entered the Passat and drove away.
Traffic Stop Ends in Snowbank
Police later located the silver Aveo in West Fargo, documents say. Officers tried to stop the car around 2 a.m. Wednesday. Police say the driver attempted to flee.
The Aveo became stuck in a snowbank, according to the report. Police arrested the driver at the scene. Authorities identified him as Anthony Luis Delatto, 50, of West Fargo.
Drugs and Firearms Located
During the arrest, police say they found about nine grams of methamphetamine. They also reported finding a glass pipe on Delatto.
A search of the vehicle turned up additional items, according to documents. Police say two handguns were found in a backpack. The backpack was on the front passenger floor.
One handgun was loaded, police allege. Officers also reported locating ammunition. They also reported finding marijuana-related paraphernalia.
Second Vehicle Also Reported Stolen
Police later confirmed the silver Aveo was stolen, court documents say. Investigators also noted Delatto had an active warrant. Police say his driver’s license was revoked.
A juvenile passenger was also detained during the stop. Police did not release the juvenile’s name.
Charges and Jail Status
Delatto faces eight charges, according to court filings. They include possession of methamphetamine with a firearm. They also include theft, fleeing police, and carrying a concealed weapon.
He is being held at the Cass County Jail.
