WEST FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) — A West Fargo man has been sentenced to life in prison after a Cass County case involving the sexual abuse of a child.

Nicholas Colin Wika, 31, was convicted on three counts of gross sexual imposition. Two counts were Class AA felonies. One count was a Class A felony. The charges stemmed from the sexual abuse of a 7-year-old child in August 2024.

Jury Found Wika Guilty on All Counts

Wika was arrested on July 17, 2025. He later went to trial in a three-day court proceeding. That trial ended on Dec. 5, when a jury found him guilty on all three counts.

During the case, Wika denied the accusation. He claimed the child was not telling the truth. The jury rejected that defense and returned guilty verdicts on every count.

Judge Orders Life Sentence

On Monday, March 31, Judge Wade Webb handed down the sentence. Wika received two concurrent life sentences for the Class AA felony convictions. He also received a 20-year sentence on the third count.

Under North Dakota Century Code, Class AA felonies can carry life in prison. The court must also decide whether parole is possible.

In this case, Wika will be allowed parole review after 30 years. That means he will not be free at that point. It means the parole board can review his case after that time.

Case Ends With Maximum Punishment

The sentence closes a major criminal case from West Fargo. It also brings the maximum punishment allowed on the most serious counts. The case involved a young child and a long court process.

More case information may be available through the North Dakota Courts system and the West Fargo Police Department.
