West Fargo Man Charged After 100+ Abuse Files Found

West Fargo (trfnews.i234.me) A West Fargo man is in jail after a search of his home.

Investigators said they found more than 100 files of suspected child sexual abuse material.

Lawrence Basil Mihu II faces three felony counts of possession of certain prohibited materials, according to court records.

Investigation Began In February

The case began after a special agent was asked to help with an ongoing investigation.

Court documents say the agent was given a video tied to the case on February 7, 2026.

After reviewing that evidence, investigators moved to search Mihu’s home in West Fargo.

Records say a judge approved a search warrant.

Officers carried out that warrant on March 3.

Investigators later searched a computer found in the home, according to the criminal complaint.

Court records say they found more than 100 image and video files.

The complaint identifies the material as child sexual abuse material.

Investigators also reported seeing a slideshow playing on a television inside the home.

The complaint says the images involved children between about 3 and 10 years old.

Mihu was later arrested and booked into jail as the case moved forward.

What Court Records Show

The charging documents list three counts against Mihu.

Those charges focus on possession of material banned under North Dakota law.

The complaint does not say the investigation is over.

It also does not rule out more court action later.

As of the filing, Mihu is set for a preliminary hearing on April 1.

That hearing is expected to address whether the case moves ahead in court.

A charge is not a conviction.

Like all defendants, Mihu is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

What Happens Next

A preliminary hearing is one of the first major court steps in a felony case.

At that stage, the court reviews whether prosecutors have enough evidence to continue.

Further filings could follow before any trial date is set.
