Wendell Ray Wegge was born in Holt, MN on September 5, 1941 son of Edgar and Mable (Paskewitz) Wegge. He was raised, and attended school, in Holt until graduating from Newfolden in 1959. After graduation, he attended the AVTI in Thief River Falls for auto mechanics. After completing his schooling he worked at Aaseby Garage in Thief River Falls, MN.

On October 19, 1963, he was united in marriage to LaVonne Nabben at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. To this union two children were born- Richard and Paulette. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls until they purchased a hobby farm in 1975 where they lived until 2019. They then moved back into town as Wendell’s health was failing.

Wendell was known by many for being able to fix almost anything. After working for Wilson Brothers for over 30 years, he went on to work at Northwest Power Systems until his retirement in 2010.

Wendell enjoyed camping at the State Parks, riding his motorcycle, and tinkering in his shop with his tractors and anything else that he thought needed fixing. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with family, especially his only grandchild, Jenna, who was the apple of his eye. Together they would ride their bikes around the campgrounds during the summer, ride a snowmobile in the winter, and when indoors, they would play pool and board games (Wendell would of course let Jenna win).

Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 58 years LaVonne of Thief River Falls, MN; children Richard Wegge of Thief River Falls, MN, Paulette (Russ) Hons of Grand Forks, ND; granddaughter Jenna (Tyler) Hagl of Red Lake Falls, MN; brothers Wayne (Sonia) Wegge of International Falls, MN, and Warren (Toinette Rossi) Wegge of Manteca, CA

Wendell is preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Mable Wegge, his mother-in-law, Cora Nabben, and his father-in-law, Alfred Nabben.
