Webster Township (trfnews.i234.me) – A frightening crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 35 in Rice County sent three young males to the hospital after their Honda Civic veered off the road and struck a tree.
At approximately 5:24 a.m. on June 1, a 2009 Honda Civic traveling southbound near mile marker 70 in Webster Township lost control and left the roadway, slamming into a tree on the west side ditch, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The driver, 19-year-old Juan Maximilian Vicente Lopez of Burnsville, and two passengers—16-year-old Henry Hernandez Clemta, also of Burnsville, and 18-year-old Zacharia Akol Nhial of West Fargo—sustained non-life-threatening injuries. All three were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.
Seat belts were worn by Lopez and Clemta, but Nhial was unbelted. Road conditions were reported as dry, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Emergency response included the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Northfield FD, Northfield Ambulance, and Mayo Air.
