Watkins, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — A major house fire in Watkins, Minnesota, on Tuesday night destroyed a home and forced the evacuation of a neighboring nursing home.
At approximately 7:07 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a house fire in the 400 block of Luella Street. Multiple emergency units responded, including the Watkins Fire Department, Eden Valley Fire, Kimball Fire, Watkins Ambulance, Mayo Ambulance, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Upon arrival, deputies found the house fully engulfed in flames. School buses were deployed to evacuate residents from the adjacent nursing home as a precaution.
The property, owned by 39-year-old Peter Lansing and 35-year-old Blanca Lansing, was completely destroyed, along with all its contents. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact local officials.
