Watford City, McKenzie County (trfnews.i234.me) – A disturbing emergency call early Saturday morning has taken a surprising turn in Watford City, where a man initially believed to be suffering from a gunshot wound was found to have self-inflicted knife wounds.

At 5:03 a.m., officers responded to the Mackenzie Apartments on Fox Hills Parkway North for a report of a male with a gunshot wound to the neck. Upon arrival, Watford City Police determined that self-inflicted knife wounds caused the injuries.

The male subject was restrained by officers to ensure medical personnel could safely provide treatment. He was then transported to Mackenzie County Hospital for further care.

Authorities urge the public:

“If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health or experiencing a crisis, help is available. Call 911 or the national mental health crisis line at 988.”
