Wanted Poster for Deputy Spurs Leads to Release of Mahnomen County Officer-Involved Shooting Video

MAHNOMEN, MN (trfnews.i234.me) A wanted poster of a Mahnomen County Deputy has appeared on social media, following the shooting of a suspect. The Sheriff’s Department has now released video of that shooting.
menomonee county sheriff josh gunther has released get dash cam video of an officer involved shooting on uh march 13th uh this from the sheriff’s department quote on march 13th in a shooting involving deputy dakota cerney and sequoia d deanne basswood age 20 of manomen the purpose of releasing this segment of video is transparency there is a narrative being pushed through social media from a coalition out of the twin cities area stating deputy cerney attempted to murder basswood this coalition has created a wanted poster uh regarding deputy cerney which raises serious questions about deputy cerney’s safety the intent of releasing this video is to make public the public aware of the facts on march 13th at approximately 1 37 a.m deputy cerny era responded to the area north of nato wash to assist another deputy with a traffic stop which turned into a pursuit deputy cerney followed the vehicle into nato wash performed a pursuit intervention technique which sent the vehicle into the ditch and then took several of the passengers into custody the video show begins showing basswood and another female female standing outside the suspect vehicle when deputy cerney ordered them to place their hands on the vehicle while he was retrieving additional sets of handcuffs from his squad car deputy cerney approached the females and began to place handcuffs on the other involved female at one point deputy cerney saw a gun in basswood’s possession and began to retreat away from her drawing his firearm and ordering her to drop the gun bass would then turn toward deputy cerney cycled the action on the firearm and pointed it at him deputy cerny fired his firearm striking basswood the video ends at that point deputy cerney requested medical attention for basswood and began to render medical aid to her as soon as the scene was safe basswood was charged with first-degree assault first degree attempted murder felon convicted of crime of violence a firearm or ammunition violation possession of ammo or any firearm fleeing a peace officer and carrier possess a pistol without a permit at the time of the incident basswood had warrants for her arrest related to an assault from june 30th of 2021 at roy lake uh basswood then was charged with second-degree riot armed with a dangerous weapon first degree assault great bodily harm and interfering with the 911 county sheriff josh gunther i’m neil carlson reporting for inews dot tv
