Detroit Lakes, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Waubun woman has been cited in connection with a theft at Walmart in Detroit Lakes involving over $100 in merchandise.
According to a citation filed by the Detroit Lakes Police Department, Tanya Arlene Soyring (DOB: 08/10/1971) was reported by Walmart employees on April 28, 2025, for an incident that occurred two days earlier on April 26. Walmart loss prevention staff allege that Soyring intentionally failed to scan all items in her cart. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Soyring scanning one of multiple identical items before bagging them all.
The unpaid merchandise totaled $104.01. Soyring was mailed a citation for misdemeanor theft under Minnesota Statute 609.52.2(a)(1) and was driving a 2021 maroon GMC Acadia at the time of the offense.
If convicted, she faces up to 90 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
