BEMIDJI, MN – A homeless shelter in Bemidji, located at 206 Minota Avenue Northwest, suffered a partial wall collapse overnight on March 14, 2025.
According to reports, the plaster wall coating on the exterior of the building unexpectedly gave way, crashing onto nearby parked cars. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The building, formerly Dewy Furniture, was converted into a homeless shelter operated by a nonprofit organization.
Emergency officials and structural engineers are assessing the damage to determine whether the building remains safe for use. Residents of the shelter have not been evacuated at this time, but officials are monitoring the situation for further risks.
Local authorities encourage drivers and pedestrians in the area to exercise caution near the site.
