Walker County Tragedy: Drunk Driver Causes Fatal Rollover Crash, Killing Young Woman

Walker County (trfnews.i234.me)In a devastating incident on March 15th, a fatal rollover crash occurred near Walker, Minnesota, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Mikayla Butcher from Bemidji. The driver, 23-year-old Pernell J. Reese of Walker, has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including felony criminal vehicular homicide involving alcohol, two counts of criminal vehicular operation causing bodily harm with alcohol involvement, and misdemeanor driving after revocation.

According to court documents, law enforcement responded to the rollover crash on Onigum Road at approximately 7:01 p.m. on March 15th. The accident involved multiple occupants, with Reese identified as the driver. Tragically, Mikayla Butcher lost her life in the crash. Reese’s blood alcohol concentration was reported at 0.213, more than twice the legal limit.

Authorities have indicated that both alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the accident. Reese was taken into custody and is currently awaiting formal charges related to the crash, as well as for probation violation.
