Wabasha County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Rochester man is facing murder charges following the death of a woman in Wabasha County Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were alerted around 4:45 p.m. to a critically injured woman in the West Newton area. The woman, identified as 36-year-old Melissa Hunt, was transported to a hospital but later died of her injuries.
The suspect, 44-year-old Craig Alan Hameister of Rochester, was arrested by Olmsted County deputies in the Chester Woods area following the incident. Authorities confirmed that Hameister and Hunt had a previous relationship.
Hameister is currently being held on two counts of 2nd-degree murder and one count of 1st-degree manslaughter. Formal charges have not yet been filed in Wabasha County Court as of Thursday morning.
