Peter Renaday, the beloved voice actor known for his portrayal of Splinter in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and for voicing iconic Disney attractions, has passed away at the age of 88.

Renaday’s career spanned decades, with his early work in stage and television transitioning into voice acting by the late 1970s. He appeared in popular shows and films such as Transformers, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, and The Rescuers. In 1987, Renaday took on the role of Splinter, the wise mentor to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a role he played for nearly a decade, solidifying his place in pop culture history.

Renaday’s talent also extended to Disney, where he voiced several characters for theme park attractions, including Abraham Lincoln at Disney World’s Hall of Presidents and Captain Nemo in the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride. His contributions to Disney continued over the years, narrating and voicing various characters for films, TV shows, and rides.

His work wasn’t limited to TV and movies—Renaday lent his voice to numerous video games, playing roles like Duncan in Dragon Age: Origins and Adam Fenix in Gears of War 3.
