Stanchfield, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — A deeply disturbing and disrespectful act out of Chisago County has left a Minnesota community outraged this Independence Day.
The beloved veteran statue known as “Handsome Jean,” which stood proudly in front of the Rush Point Store in Stanchfield, was stolen and vandalized on July 4th — a day meant to honor the very freedoms that statue represented.
“Handsome Jean” wasn’t just any decoration. He was a heartfelt gift from the previous store owner’s father, Jean — a man remembered for his strength, love, and unwavering spirit. Since his passing, the statue became a memorial, a symbol of patriotic pride, and a reminder of the sacrifices made by veterans across the nation.
But this year, instead of fireworks and celebration, the store owner was met with heartbreak. Video evidence reportedly shows a group of boys slapping, punching, and loading the statue into a vehicle before fleeing the scene. The act has been described as “disgusting,” “disturbing,” and “a disgrace.”
“How do you steal a symbol of freedom on the very day we celebrate it?” the devastated owner said. “It blows my mind. I’m at a loss for words.”
If anyone has information, they are urged to contact the Chisago County Sheriff’s Department immediately.
