Narrative: The Ford Escape was eastbound at a high speed on 38 St, north of Mandan, towards the Old Heskett Power Plant Stairway and Shore Fishing. The driver crossed over the railroad tracks preceding the parking area to the stairway, losing control of the vehicle. The vehicle slid through a barbed wire fence sideways, off the cliff towards the Missouri River. It dropped approximately 50 feet, overturning on the way down, and came to rest upright on the shoreline next to the river facing south. The two female passengers and one male passenger were able to walk up the stairway. Both females were transported to CHI St. Aleius by ambulance, one male was released to a parent on the scene, and the other had to be extricated and carried up the stairway before being transported to Sanford for injuries. The vehicle was removed from the shoreline by a crane. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
