Vehicle Recovered from Red River in Fargo Linked to Old Case

FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me— A vehicle was pulled from the Red River in Fargo on Saturday morning, days after it was discovered by a dive team investigating a missing person case.

According to the Fargo Police Department, the vehicle was first located on Wednesday by Adventures with a Purpose, an independent dive team known for helping solve missing person cold cases. Using sonar technology, the team discovered the submerged vehicle near the Dyke East boat ramp while searching for 53-year-old Jonett Wanner of West Fargo, who has been missing since July 2023.

After being notified, Fargo Police coordinated with Valley Water Rescue to verify the discovery and plan a recovery operation. The vehicle was successfully pulled from the river around 10:20 a.m. Saturday, and was examined by investigators.

Authorities say the vehicle appears to have been in the river for an extended period. No human remains were found inside, and initial findings indicate the vehicle is not connected to the West Fargo Police Department’s missing person case involving Wner.

Police continue working with other agencies to determine how the vehicle entered the river and who it may be associated with. The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released.
