RED RIVER VALLEY (trfnews.i234.me) – Fire crews were called to two separate combine fires on Sunday afternoon, one in North Dakota and another in Minnesota.

According to emergency radio traffic, the first fire was reported west of Grand Forks near Emerado around 3:45 p.m. Crews responded to the field fire quickly to bring the situation under control.

At nearly the same time, another combine fire was reported on the Minnesota side near Neilsville. That incident happened along U.S. Highway 75 and 420th Street Southwest, across from a local elevator. Firefighters from Neilsville were paged to respond.

Both fires occurred in active harvest fields. No injuries have been reported, but emergency crews remained on the scenes to ensure the blazes were fully contained. Authorities have not released information on the causes of the fires.

Farm equipment fires are a recurring risk during the busy harvest season. Officials remind operators to check equipment regularly and keep fire extinguishers accessible in combines and tractors. For more information on farm equipment fire safety, visit the University of Minnesota Extension.
