MAHNOMEN, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — We have an update on this morning’s report of a body found near Highway 59, just south of Mahnomen, Minnesota.

According to Mahnomen County Sheriff Josh Gunther, dispatch received a call at approximately 6:10 a.m. on Friday reporting a male lying in a ditch near the intersection of Highway 59 and 160th Avenue, about two miles south of Mahnomen.

When law enforcement and EMS arrived on the scene, the male was found deceased, and authorities say it appeared he had been struck by a vehicle. The suspected vehicle was later located unoccupied on 160th Avenue, just north of where the victim was discovered.

The driver of the vehicle has since been identified and taken into custody, according to Sheriff Gunther.

At this time, neither the victim nor the driver has been publicly identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office is working alongside the White Earth Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol to determine the circumstances of the incident.

We’ll bring further updates as they become available.
