Traill County (trfnews.i234.me): Update on Beet Truck Rollover Near Reynolds, ND
We have an update on the sugar beet truck rollover reported early Wednesday morning in Traill County, about four miles east of Reynolds, North Dakota, and roughly 16 miles south of Grand Forks.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at approximately 5:38 a.m. after reports indicated that the driver of a sugar beet truck had become trapped inside the vehicle following the rollover.
As of this update, it remains unclear whether the driver sustained any injuries.
A recovery crew and wrecker truck arrived on site late Wednesday morning to upright the overturned vehicle.
A dispatcher from the Traill County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the North Dakota Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
Viewer photos from TRF News show crews working at the crash site near the beet piling station east of Reynolds.
Authorities say slippery rural roads and heavy beet truck traffic may have been contributing factors, as temperatures dropped across the Northern Valley overnight.
Drivers in the region are urged to slow down and use caution during this year’s sugar beet harvest.
With hundreds of beet trucks operating around the clock, even minor misjudgments on rural roads can lead to serious accidents.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is expected to release further details later today.
Motorists can check live road conditions and updates through the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
This is a developing story. TRF News will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available from law enforcement and emergency responders.
I’m Chris Harper reporting for TRF News.
