UPDATE: National Guard Arrives in Crookston, Set to Provide Regional Support

CROOKSTON, MN (trfnews.i234.me) Fifty-one Minnesota National Guard troops rolled into Crookston. The flood fight in the City of Crookston is on hold as the river level has dropped a bit. Troops are being used to monitor dikes and provide support to other areas.
Neil Berg here in uh crookston with a little monday morning update on the uh national guard coming into town start off here in this neighborhood along riverside avenue where the uh dyke failed yesterday and uh basically two homes and some out buildings were flooded uh this is the low-lying area of the riverside avenue uh most of the property here had been cleared out in earlier flood mitigation efforts so this will stay as is for now uh however overnight just over 50 national guard troops moved in but as far as sandbagging police chief selfler tells me today that’s on hold here in crookston the low-lying areas of the dike system everything is up to snuff to around 31 feet all over town and the river dropped a bit this morning uh to under 27 feet so it’s kind of a wait and see here in crookston uh troops will uh use those national guard troops will be used in other areas uh for now okay where are you guys out there uh we’re currently out of uh camp ripley oh the 134th bsb how many uh troops did you bring in uh we brought in uh 51 personnel so what’s the plan for today so currently the plan today is continue sandbag operations as required so we’re currently moving into fischer to provide support over there with 18 total troops moving sandbags from locations here in crookston as we can um in conjunction with emergency personnel here and moving them up there uh along with that we’re actually currently actively doing levee patrols in the area on three different routes to ensure that water isn’t you know continuing to come into the city so again some 51 national guard troops rolled into uh crookston however the actual flood fight in crookston is uh over for now and uh wait and see and they’re hoping the river will continue to fall uh troops used to being used to monitor some dikes and other sandbagging efforts in other areas around the region i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
