PULASKI, TN (trfnews.i234.me) We have a bit more information regarding a former couple from Lancaster, Minnesota now living in Tennessee, who are wrapped up in what the Sheriff there says involves human trafficking.
We have a bit more information regarding the disturbing case of James and Kelly Hewitt, formerly of Lancaster, Minnesota, who are now living in rural Palaski, Tennessee. James Uitt was a longtime deputy for the Kitson County Sheriff’s Department. The couple was arrested at their Tennessee residence near Palaski last week. Now, a hearing in the case has been set for July 15th in Giles County, Tennessee. Last week, the sheriff there announced they were arrested on pending charges of trafficking for forced labor, servitude, and animal cruelty. The sheriff also stated eight people were rescued in the operation uh investigation operation that involved 15 different agencies. At this point, we have a bit of information from the search warrants in the case. officers reported finding over 40 mistreated dogs on their property along with uh starving chickens. Now, while the Giles County Sheriff stated eight people were rescued from the property, the warrants uh name only one person believed to be a child. uh stating uh they did quote knowingly and intentionally commit the offense of trafficking for forced uh labor or services by harboring the victim from a Haiti orphanage knowing that the victim will be subjected to involuntary servitude or manual labor unquote.
