MOORHEAD, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Jamal Ahmed, 35, has been charged with second-degree murder following the shooting death of Frankie Torres, 37, in Moorhead on July 24, 2024. The charge, which carries a maximum sentence of 40 years, is the result of a violent altercation detailed in newly released court documents.
According to the criminal complaint, Moorhead police responded to a report of a man with a gunshot wound at 9111 18th Street South. Upon arrival, they found Torres with a gunshot wound to the head. He was later pronounced dead at Sanford Hospital.
Witnesses revealed that a female acquaintance of Ahmed, who goes by the nickname “Nuno,” had earlier been sexually assaulted by him. She had given Ahmed a ride to the scene where Torres, alerted by the woman’s distress, confronted Ahmed. During the confrontation, Ahmed was reportedly attacked by Torres. A black male with red locks then emerged and fatally shot Torres in the head. Ahmed was later identified by witnesses and arrested.
