Bemidji Woman Faces Charges for Assaulting Sweet Corn Vendor

BEMIDJI, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – On August 1st, 2024, 20-year-old Arieyana J. White from Bemidji was charged with felony simple robbery, gross misdemeanor counterfeiting of currency, and misdemeanor assault. The charges stem from an incident that occurred at the Stitsworth Meats parking lot.

Around 1:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault involving a sweet corn vendor. According to the criminal complaint, White attempted to buy $3 worth of corn using a counterfeit $50 bill. When the vendor refused the bill, White allegedly became angry, grabbed the tip jar, and tried to flee. The vendor attempted to recover the jar, but White allegedly punched and scratched him before abandoning the jar and running away.

Police later located White, who was identified by the vendor. She had a counterfeit $50 bill on her person, which was seized as evidence. Although White initially denied the assault, she later admitted interacting with the vendor but denied the physical assault.
