UPDATE: 35 Year Prison Sentence For Murder Of Young Grand Forks Woman

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) An immigrant from Somalia, Ahmed Abdullahi of East Grand Forks was sentenced to 35 years in prison today under a plea deal, where he plead guilty to the murder. He will face deportation after his sentence is served.

Former East Grand Forks resident Ahmed Abdullahi has been sentenced to 60 years in prison with 25 suspended for the murder of Megan Gustafson in September 2020. Abdullahi was found guilty of shooting Gustafson when officers arrived at the apartment where they were both present. The victim was taken to the hospital but pronounced dead soon after. During the sentencing hearing at Grand Forks County District Court, several of Gustafson’s family members and friends made victim statements. They expressed their disappointment with the state’s attorney for not offering a higher sentence deal, which they believed would have been more suitable for the crime committed. The family members shared their grief and how they have been affected by Gustafson’s death, including her daughter, who will grow up without her mother. Abdullahi had a history of criminal conduct, including terroristic threats, obstruction of law enforcement, multiple convictions for disorderly conduct, simple assault, theft, and fleeing from law enforcement. He had been in domestic violence programming in the past but was kicked out for not following through. The judge denied Abdullahi’s request for a downward plea and upheld the sentence.

  1. He is getting out in his 50s & is 35 years old so that's 20 years, not 35 & will be deported. Fair enough as I am not relishing the idea of paying for him. He has a temper so he might expire in there. Too bad no one showed on his behalf. Maybe he will find religion.

  2. Deport his a55! Why do taxpayers have to pay for 35 years of incarceration? See? This is typical. Come here and continue their ridiculous shenanigans with murdering women. Ugh! Deport him!

  3. People in Grand Forks need to understand that they brought Somalians here and they have NO respect for this nations laws and you need to understand they are not like those of us who have been brought up in a Christian nation because they do not have any respect for women especially but they have no respect for Americans; they have the belief they are more
Important than Americans and especially women Americans. But our court system is also showing the horrible lack of respect for women also and this has to change.
