Grand Forks Man Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Massive Tire Slashing Spree

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Matthew Morris of Grand Forks has been sentenced to two years in prison for his role in a tire-slashing spree that occurred in October 2023. Morris, 31, pled guilty to felony criminal mischief under a plea deal. The spree resulted in significant damage, with over 80 tires slashed across more than 50 vehicles, leaving 45 victims with losses exceeding $17,000. In addition to his prison sentence, Morris will serve three years of probation. This case brought considerable attention to the community as residents dealt with the aftermath of the widespread vandalism.

  1. I know it's not good what he did, but sometimes drug dealers get less time?!?!? I would have thought 6 months or so and pay back monetary damages cost would have been a proper sentence… Two years feels like a bit much… Making him work to pay off those damages is the real punishment….

  2. Two full years with no good behavior time that's what is needed and paying back for damages. i had someone years ago bust my door glass and steal sterero and personal items. There was finger prints all over the car, but the lazy GF PD would not take prints. The officer just said turn it into your insurance. I had to pay out of pocket $250.00 deductible . They caught the guy and I was never paid back for damages and never got back my personal items. Also, the cleanup of broken window glass inside the car seemed to never end.
