Unattended Stove Sparks Apartment Fire in Drayton: No Injuries Reported

DRAYTON, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – Drayton Fire Chief Jordan Grundstrom provided an update on the Wednesday night apartment fire in Drayton, North Dakota. The Drayton Fire Department was dispatched at 9:24 p.m. to a single-level fourplex where a fire had broken out. The blaze was contained to one unit, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The tenant was not home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire was determined to be a stove cooktop burner that had been left on with materials too close to it. The unit where the fire started sustained minor damage, while a neighboring apartment experienced minor smoke that required ventilation. Crews were on the scene for about one hour. The Drayton Fire Department received assistance from the Drayton Ambulance and the Pembina County Sheriff’s Office.
