Two Injured In Todd County Campfire Explosion

CUSHING, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me— Two people were seriously injured in a campfire explosion Saturday night near Cushing, Minnesota. According to the Todd County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred when an attempt to start a campfire went tragically wrong.

Authorities say 34-year-old Nathaniel Larson was using a gas can to ignite the fire when the container caught fire and exploded. The blast caused severe burns to Larson’s hands. Nearby, 65-year-old Jodie Larson suffered extensive burns and was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

Nathaniel Larson was taken by ambulance to a Staples hospital with serious hand injuries. Sheriff officials said both victims are receiving medical care for their burns. The explosion occurred at a rural property near Cushing, and the fire was quickly contained before it spread further.

Investigators are continuing to look into the cause of the explosion, but early reports suggest that the use of gasoline to start the fire led to the blast. Authorities are reminding the public never to use gas or other accelerants to ignite campfires, as such actions can cause explosions and severe injuries.
