Trooper in North Dakota Avoids Injury After Patrol Vehicle is Struck

GARDNER, ND (trfnews.i234.me) A North Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper escaped injury when his patrol vehicle was struck on Interstate-29 near Gardner, North Dakota today.
a North Dakota Highway Patrol Troopers uh was in his vehicle when I was struck at 12 50 p.m today by the uh southbound exit on I-29 at Gardner both North and southbound I-29 was closed at the time of the crash and had been closed since approximately 8 P.M last night Highway Patrol and Dot were conducting clearing operations along southbound I-29 with the North Dakota Department of Transportation utilizing large blowers to blow back the large drifting that had occurred during the blizzard the trooper was providing traffic control for the dot Southbound on I-29 forcing traffic to exit I-29 the patrol vehicle was parked in the uh apex of the roadway and exit ramp at the bottom of the exit ramp while the patrol car was parked on the closed road with emergency lights flashing two vehicles approached the trooper at approximately 75 miles per hour the first vehicle break to slow prior to reaching the location of the trooper the second vehicle veered around the first vehicle and into the path of the patrol vehicle this vehicle a 2003 Honda Odyssey van rear-ended the patrol vehicle after the Collision both vehicles rested on the roadway the Honda came to rest facing north across across one lot Lane of southbound I-29 the patrol patrolman’s vehicle a Ford Explorer came to rest facing south uh in uh Lane of the southbound I-29 Cass County Sheriff’s Office is invested in investigating the crash involving the highway patrol vehicle and Honda van no one was injured in the crash the trooper was seat belted in the vehicle at the time of the crash as was the other driver inside the Honda airbags deployed in the Honda only traffic was diverted off I-29 at Exit 85 for approximately 45 minutes during the crash investigation I’m Neil Berg reporting for itrfnews.i234.me
