Trial Commences for Man Accused of Home Invasion and Fatal Stabbing

BAGLEY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) Opening statements in the Murder trial of Christopher Colgrove in Bagley, Minnesota today. He’s charged with stabbing to death Dawn Swenson on September 7, 2020.
Neil Berg here in bagley minnesota at the clearwater county courthouse on a friday where the murder trial for christopher cole grove is now underway in his opening statement today prosecutor john gross laid out his case of what allegedly happened some six miles southwest of bagley on september 7th of 2020 gross says cole grove was using meth and called an ambulance to his home saying he couldn’t breathe then he fled on foot when an emt and officer arrived colgrove had run two-tenths of a mile down the road to don swenson’s and broke in the house an officer was there in a short time and heard a female yell get out don’t hurt me the officer went into the home and saw swenson struggling with cole grove the officer fired his taser but it didn’t work the officer then witnessed cole grove stabbed swenson twice the autopsy report says swenson was stabbed in the back of the neck and once in the back with a knife entering her heart colgrill fled the scene and surrendered to authorities the next morning in her opening statement defense attorney dianna sweeney didn’t dispute what happened that day basically she agreed cole grove was using meth and she’ll be talking about cole grove’s intentions that day intentions could determine the difference between the first and second-degree murder charges he faces a first-degree murder charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison while a second-degree murder charge carries a maximum sentence of 40 years the trial is expected to last toward the end of next week i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
