Criminal damage to property and driving while impaired
On Aug. 16 at 8:01 p.m., police received a report of property damage outside of 825 Duluth Ave. N. Tyrus Mathew Olson, 24, Thief River Falls, has been charged with third-degree criminal damage to property and fourth degree driving while impaired. The complaint alleges that Olson got into a verbal/physical argument with his dad and used a baseball bat to break the windshield of a 2015 Dodge Challenger. Olson’s dad and grandma apparently own the car. Olson then drove a Coleman mini-motorcycle to 1007 Elizabeth St., where he was arrested.
On Aug. 16 at 8:42 a.m., police received a report of a theft at Ronnings. Dajon Matanah, 23, Thief River Falls, has been cited for theft. He allegedly stole a pair of Nike shoes.
Second-degree DWI and driving after revocation
On Aug. 16 at 11:51 p.m., police performed a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Hwy. 1. Raymond Eugene Matthews Jr., 34, Thief River Falls, has charges pending for second-degree DWI and driving after revocation. He was arrested.
On Aug. 17 at 12:36 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a theft at 16375 150th St. N.E. Someone had broken into a storage unit and stolen tools.
On Aug. 19 at 10:02 p.m., police received a report of property damage in the Digi-Key parking lot. A windshield had been cracked on a vehicle belonging to a Thief River Falls resident.
On Aug. 20 at 6:20 a.m., police received a report of a theft in the parking lot of Americas Best Value Inn & Suites. Someone had stolen the license plates off of Ford F150 belonging to a Solway man. The license plates are 247-VAC.
Violation of a harassment/restraining order
On Aug. 12 at 1:21 p.m., police received a report from the Pennington County crime victim advocate that a woman said she had been contacted by a Northwest Community Corrections inmate a weekend earlier. Seth Ryan Ellefson, 37, Red Lake Falls, has been charged with a violation of a harassment/restraining order. A warrant was requested since Ellefson is out of jail on conditions of release in Pennington County for two other alleged violations of the harassment/restraining order. In this instance, Ellefson allegedly called a woman from jail at 12:57 p.m. on Aug. 8, according to the complaint. The woman told a police sergeant that she hung up the phone once the operator said she had a “phone call from Seth.” The woman has a harassment/ restraining order filed against Ellefson. The woman’s report was substantiated by her phone log, a jail call log and a jail call recording. The complaint indicated that Ellefson had violated a harassment/ restraining order in August 2019.
