TRF News Takes a Spin with Minnesota’s New Free At-Home COVID-19 Test Kit

hey everyone Neil Berg here i just tried out the minnesota kovit 19 tested home uh kit it’s free if you’d like to be able to test at home uh you need to be a minnesota resident and what you do is go to the minnesota department uh department of health website or just do a google search for minnesota department of health covid19 test at home and there you’ll sign up online i did this last friday afternoon my test came uh a monday here just before noon and i just took the test and i should get the results back within about three days i’m told it’s easy to do and you can do it you’ll need to have your insurance information if you don’t have insurance i guess you can also get this free at home go just go through the steps that you’re told when you sign up to online you’ll get the kit and then i recorded part of my uh consultation via zoom you’ll need zoom on your computer um when you actually take the test you basically spit into a tube and here’s part of that all right and any coveted symptoms or exposure uh probable exposure okay and uh this is not for travel right no all right go ahead and open up the test kit the tube here yeah and uh there’s a barcode on the side of the tube i need the last four digits off the uh barcode okay i just scanned it all right so you’re gonna start spitting into the top of that funnel and you’re going to fill it up to the black wavy line that looks like water okay with clear i’m sorry and there’s no top in here at all uh there we’ll add the top in a minute or two so it’s got to be clear saliva up to that line so if you have any foam or bubbles it’s got to be above that okay the test takes a few minutes to do so i’m going to put you back in the waiting room so you can spit and then i’ll check in on you in a few minutes and see where we’re at so we can finish up the test okay all right i’ll see in a few okay that looks good all right so you’re gonna take off that funnel cap so it’s on the top of the tube yeah yeah it’s gonna twist off okay and you’re gonna put the other cap on with the blue liquid in it and you’re going to twist that down uh yeah flip it over fat on down just like that and you’re actually going to over tighten it you might feel a cracker pop that’s okay we want that blue liquid to release and mix with your saliva so that was basically it you need to do a zoom meeting with the one of the vault uh the company that’s doing these tests uh a meeting with them so they can watch you actually spit into the tube and know it’s yours you’ll get the packing material and you just send it back drop it off at a ups location and i should have my results within two to three days i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
