On Jan. 18, an officer was dispatched to Country Acres Apartments to assist with following up on an investigation. Michael Nolan Hayes, 30, Thief River Falls, has been charged with gross misdemeanor fifth-degree controlled sub stance crime.

He was arrested on multiple warrants.

According to the complaint, the officer saw Hayes in the parking lot and knew he had multiple warrants in Pennington County.

At the time, Hayes allegedly possessed burnt tinfoil, which is commonly associated with illicit controlled substance use.

Later, while being interviewed at the Law Enforcement Center, Hayes said he possessed a small amount of fentanyl.

He then handed a piece of paper containing fentanyl to the officer.
