Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Thief River Falls man has been charged in Pennington County District Court with possessing methamphetamine and fentanyl while out on bail for a felony murder charge.
Isaac Victor Kalinoski, 34, faces two felony counts of fifth-degree controlled substance crime, along with misdemeanor offenses of obstructing the legal process and fleeing an officer by means other than a motor vehicle.
At the time of his arrest, Kalinoski was out on bail for felony charges of third-degree murder and third-degree controlled substance crime stemming from the November 28 death of Hailey Ann Czapiewski, 28. An autopsy revealed she died from fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity, with Kalinoski accused of distributing fentanyl to her on the day of her death.
Following the latest charges, the state sought to revoke Kalinoski’s $50,000 bail in the murder case. Judge Tamara Yon ordered an additional $30,000 cash or $300,000 bond on top of the original amount.
The new charges arose from an investigation into another case involving Samantha Erin Hutchinson, 32, of Moorhead. A sheriff’s investigator found conversations on Hutchinson’s phone indicating drug transactions between her and Kalinoski on Snapchat and Facebook Messenger.
Law enforcement believed Kalinoski violated his release conditions and brought him to the Law Enforcement Center for a urine test. Upon hearing this, Kalinoski allegedly attempted to flee but was apprehended. During a search, officers found meth and fentanyl on him. Kalinoski was taken to Pennington County Jail, where he refused to provide a urine sample despite multiple opportunities.
Kalinoski has prior convictions for fifth-degree controlled substance crime in March 2016 and conspiracy to commit a third-degree controlled substance crime in April 2019.
