Anyone know where a guy can watch the security cam video of this actually happening? The Detroit Lakes paper has it, but wants way too much personal info just to sign up to see their online paper.
I grew up near here, and I am very familiar with this exact spot. I had always heard a story about a steam train derailing and falling into the lake at the Eastern end, where the rail embankment is right over the lake. Acorn lake is very deep, and apparently the engine and all of the cars are still down there. See the area at 1:24 in the video.
Also, I went to high school with Sheriff Glander's younger brother.
Nice reporting! I heard nothing on the main stream media news on this one. I guess since nobody was killed or it wasn't hazardous, it wasn't important…idk.
