Traill County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Hillsboro woman was seriously injured in a rollover crash on an ice-covered road northeast of Hillsboro early Thursday morning. The crash was reported at 12:01 a.m. on November 27, according to a news release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The crash happened in the 166 block of 3rd Street Northeast, also known as Traill County Road 13. The area is about eight miles northeast of Hillsboro. Roads were covered in ice, and conditions were dark at the time of the crash.

Investigators say a 2008 Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The vehicle rolled after leaving the road. The driver, identified as 54-year-old Theresa Custer of Hillsboro, suffered serious injuries.

Troopers say Custer was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. She was transported to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo by Sanford AirMed. Additional information about North Dakota crash data can be found at dot.nd.gov.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to the scene along with the Traill County Sheriff’s Office, the Hillsboro Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance Service. Emergency crews worked in difficult roadway conditions due to widespread ice in the region.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. No other vehicles were involved. Authorities have not released further details about Custer’s condition.

Drivers are urged to use caution on rural roads during early winter weather. The Highway Patrol also reminds motorists to wear seat belts at all times. More safety information can be found at ndhp.nd.gov.
