Around 8:00 p.m., authorities in Traill County reported a group of 13 vehicles traveling northbound near Hillsboro. The vehicles were clocked at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
According to reports, some vehicles were pulled over by officers. However, another group of speeding cars passed the first group, continuing northbound on I-29. It remains unclear if this was an organized racing event or simply reckless driving.
North Dakota recently increased its interstate speed limit to 80 mph, but officials stressed that driving over 100 mph creates extreme danger for everyone on the road.
No official statement has been released yet, and it is unknown if any citations or arrests were made. The North Dakota Highway Patrol is expected to provide further details on Sunday.
