Tragic Suicide During West Fargo Traffic Stop

WEST FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – In a tragic incident, one person died by suicide during a traffic stop conducted by the West Fargo Police Department on Sunday, Feb. 11. The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of 26th Avenue South and Veterans Boulevard, initiated for probable cause related to a domestic dispute.

During the felony traffic stop, the driver was briefly detained after exiting the vehicle. However, the passenger did not comply with officers’ commands, re-entered the vehicle, and revealed a firearm. The passenger died by suicide while officers were issuing additional commands.

Notably, no shots were fired by West Fargo Police, and there were no injuries to emergency personnel or bystanders. The West Fargo Police Department had prior engagement with the individual concerning a domestic dispute on Saturday evening.

The area was temporarily blocked off for investigation but has since been reopened to traffic. The incident remains under investigation, and further details are pending. Assistance was provided by the Fargo Police Department, West Fargo Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance during this distressing event.
