Tragic Incident on Minnesota Lake: One Fatality, One Survivor

one person survived and another died following two incidents on Minnesota lake ice on Friday on Little Rock Lake a young man survived after his snowmobile went in and on maax an elderly man died when the pickup he was driving went in the lake on malax the sheriff’s department was called at 10:52 a.m. Friday near the flagship in a pickup had gone through the ice an 80-year-old Richard gadboys of Isle Minnesota was found deceased wearing a flotation device in the water when he was recovered then at 11:30 a.m. on Friday the Benton County Sheriff’s Department responded to Little Rock Lake for a report of a snowmobile that had gone in the water the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a witness on Shore reporting that a snowmobile had fallen through the ice on the main Basin of Little Rock Lake the caller reported seeing the snowmobile disappeared below the water before observing the driver of the snowmobile climbed back onto the ice the caller reported the driver appeared to be walking toward a fish house on the uh St reges landing on the lake responding deputies uh responded and met with the lone victim as 16-year-old boy from Rice Minnesota prior to the deputy’s arrival the boy had contacted an angler in a fish house uh the angler transported the boy to shore from The Fish House on another snowmobile the boy was treated on scene for hypothermia by deputies and firefighters from The Rice Lake Rescue Squad the boy told investigating deputies that he had driven a snowmobile onto Little Rock Lake at the St reges access and headed to the southeast the deputies learned that about a half mile from Shore the boy observed Open Water lying ahead of his path he attempted to stop his snowmobile but was unable to avoid falling into the Open Water the boy was transported by mayor ambulance to the St Cloud Hospital for further valuation I’m Neil Berg reporting for I trfnews.i234.me
