Todd Clow, age 57, of Twin Valley, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 13, 2025, of natural causes, at his home in Twin Valley.
Todd Gene Clow, the son of Lyle and Donna (Johnson) Clow was born on April 11, 1967, in Drayton, ND. He spent his very early years in Humboldt, MN, until moving with his family to Park River, ND, where he attended school. He was very active in high school sports, excelling in football, basketball, and baseball, and was crowned Homecoming King before graduating with the class of 1985. Todd enlisted in the United States Navy and, although he only served a short time, he remained deeply proud of the U.S. military and all those who served. Todd worked a variety of jobs and overcame several challenges, ultimately finding his true calling in education. He attended Mayville State University and earned his teaching degree, which set the stage for a lifelong career dedicated to helping young minds grow. In 2001, Todd began his first full-time teaching position at Norman County East School in Twin Valley. Over the course of his 23-year career at Norman County East, he taught history and social studies, leaving a lasting impact on hundreds of students. He also served in many roles within the school, including coaching, participating in various boards and committees, serving on the teachers’ union, and was the Athletic Director for a time. Currently, in addition to teaching, Mr. Clow was the Student Council and Knowledge Bowl advisor. During the summer and harvest seasons, Todd also helped local farmers in need of an extra hand.
Todd was passionate about history and current events. He encouraged his students to not only learn from textbooks but also real-life experiences. As an avid traveler, he appreciated seeing new sights with family and friends, as well as organizing several educational trips to Washington D.C. with his students. With a keen understanding of politics and government, Todd was always willing to engage in respectful discussions about his beliefs. He took the time to truly see and get to know the people around him. He made an effort to keep in touch with friends and had many treasured relationships. Todd loved to tell stories, give nicknames, and chat with others about life. He was a well-known and welcome face at nearly all the community events, church dinners, and local benefits. With a soft spot in his heart for animals, Todd doted on his precious cats, Pudge and Qwinn. He loved golfing, riding his 4-wheelers, and watching various sporting events, especially the Fargo Red Hawks and MN Twins baseball games. Mr. Clow was a dedicated supporter of the Titan athletic teams, often working the concession stand fundraisers as his students participated in their favorite events. His strong work ethic, commitment to human rights, and desire to help others were evident in everything he did. Through his actions and the simple way he lived his life, Mr. Todd Clow showed us all what it means to be kind, compassionate, and to always do the right thing.
Todd is survived by his two siblings, Bradley (Ann) Clow of Omaha, NE and Darci (Mark) Gilbertson of Devils Lake, ND; his dearest friend, Shari Fromm; and eight nieces and nephews: Kelly, Brian, Erin, Kristen, Andy, Molly, Taylor, and Wyatt. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and sister-in-law, Miles “Scott” and Rhandi; and his sister, Becky.
