Incident Summary

On the morning of May 21, 2024, a serious single-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 2 near mile marker 128, about 16 miles west of Minot. A 2000 Sterling Dump Truck driven by 60-year-old Jeffrey Krout experienced a front left tire blowout while hauling asphalt westbound. The blowout caused the truck to veer into the median, cross the eastbound lanes, and overturn in the south ditch.

Krout, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Trinity Hospital in Minot. The accident scattered asphalt across the eastbound lanes, which crews later cleared. The crash is currently under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
