Thompson, ND Experiences Saturday Morning Flood-fight

THOMPSON, ND (trfnews.i234.me) A Saturday morning flood fight is underway in Thompson, North Dakota.
newcastle down here in thompson north dakota about seven miles south of uh grand forks off the interstate where the coulee that goes around the uh edge of town has overflowed and some sandbagging going on this is lindsey thompson’s place so how much room yep bowman sorry but uh how much rain do you get down here uh we’re thinking about four inches in the last however long okay all right have you seen this in recent years no about three years ago um it came up a bit but it was still probably 15 this is about 15 feet more than what we had then all right anybody get a wet basement yet along here i think people’s sump pumps are running pretty good but that’s all we know so far we’re in a split level so we don’t have a sump pump but we haven’t needed anything yet okay and unfortunately supposedly more rain this afternoon yes yesterday yeah like i said we we thought we were okay last night and then with all the more rain so we sandbagged this morning all right we’ll show people look around here take care yep thank you all right this is the coulee that runs along the edge of thompson to go over here there’s folks sandbagging as you heard uh lindsay say there about four inches of rain here and unfortunately more on the way in the forecast for this afternoon that sandbaggers here their basement get wet you know if their basement got wet here all right got a pretty big sand bite sand bag dike built up here hopefully the water will start to stop rising unfortunately uh more rain in the forecast for this afternoon in thompson north dakota i’m neal carlton reporting for trfnews.i234.me

  1. Such a hardship to bear, but these folk are a hardy breed with a wonderful, positive outlook on life. Some of the finest people I ever met were from places like Hoople, Grand Forks, Gilby, Marvel, Grafton, Drayton & Cavalier, to name but a few locations. I was a young musician in a family band, we played all those places by the time I was in my teens, and we literally got the red-carpet treatment from each & every person we met. I'll never forget that time of my life. Best of luck to everyone being beseiged by the high water.
