Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) – Thief River Falls resident Morgan Robert Nehring, 43, was sentenced on March 17 in Pennington County District Court after pleading guilty to possessing 75.8 grams of methamphetamine in 2023. The court dismissed charges of possession of ammunition and firearms by an ineligible person. Nehring received a 150-month prison sentence, stayed for five years, and must serve five years of supervised probation. Additional conditions include no contact with victims, enrollment in the Crow Wing County Treatment Court, adherence to treatment recommendations, prohibition from possessing firearms, ammunition, or explosives, provision of a DNA sample, and payment of $185 in fees and fines.

The charges arose from the execution of two search warrants on December 12, 2023, at Nehring’s residence, 14922 137th Ave. N.E. Law enforcement discovered a Glock 23 .40-caliber pistol with ammunition, methamphetamine paraphernalia, and a safe containing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia accessible to a 16-year-old resident. Beverly Rae Aspen, another occupant, was subsequently sentenced for possessing meth paraphernalia in the presence of a child.

Nehring’s criminal history includes convictions for third-degree assault in June 2002, manufacturing/delivering methamphetamine in September 2005, and previous firearm possession offenses in April 2012 and May 2019.
