Dallas James Berg, 37, Thief River Falls, was sentenced for a felony violation of a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order.

He was granted a five-year stay of imposition.

Berg’s sentence is to be served concurrently with another case. He was ordered to serve supervised probation for five years. A Domestic Abuse No Contact Order remains in effect. Berg was ordered to complete the Domestic Abuse Batterers’ Intervention Program and Aftercare. Berg was ordered to complete a chemical dependency assessment and complete the Mustard Seed Program. He was ordered to not use or possess firearms, ammunition, or explosives. Berg was ordered to supply a DNA sample. He was also ordered to pay $210 in fees and fines.

The charge stemmed from a report to police on Jan. 12 at about 9:51 p.m., according to the complaint. An altercation was reported at an apartment building located at 409 Atlantic Ave. N. Berg had been staying at the apartment of a man and woman for the past couple of weeks. The man knocked on Berg’s bedroom door to ask him if he would like some pie.

According to the complaint, Berg told him to stay out of his business or he would punch him.

The man, who is afraid of Berg, closed the bedroom door and called the police. He said Berg also had direct contact with the woman earlier that day. The complaint indicated that there is an active Domestic Abuse No Contact Order prohibiting Berg from being at the apartment or having contact with the woman.

He was convicted of both domestic assault and a protection order violation in October 2019.
