Therese M. Tiedeman, 76, of East Grand Forks, Minn., passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, surrounded by her family, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Therese Margaret Lutz was born Jan. 1, 1948, in Minneapolis to Dean and Rosella (Quaid) Lutz. She grew up in Minneapolis, Detroit and Pittsburgh, where she graduated from Fontbonne Academy for Girls in 1965. She returned to Minneapolis, where she attended the University of Minnesota, later moving to California before returning to Minnesota. Therese earned her Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of North Dakota and worked in rehabilitation before teaching in the Grand Forks Public School System. On Oct. 8, 1974, Therese married Tom Abrahamson in Marshall County, Minn. They made their home in Greenbush, Minn., and were blessed with two daughters, Amy and Jessica.
On September 17, 1999, Therese married Jeff Tiedeman at St. Michael Catholic Church in Grand Forks, N.D.
One of Therese’s passion was helping others. In retirement, she worked with the Parkinson’s group and other special needs groups at the Y Family Center. She also served on the East Grand Forks Campbell Library Board and was a member of the Friends of the Library. She was also a member of the Northern Red River Valley Dolls Club.
Therese is survived by her husband Jeff Tiedeman of East Grand Forks, daughters Amy Wright of Grand Forks and Jessica Week (Adam Neat) of Milford, Ohio; siblings Denise Lutz of Minneapolis, Dean “Duke” (Margaret) Lutz of Portage La Prairie, Man., Dirk (Connie) Lutz of Litchfield, Minn., and Joel (Liz) Lutz of Minneapolis; grandchildren Rakeem, Naomi (Brandon), Theo; great-granddaughter Isla; and brothers-in-law Kevin (Lynn) Tiedeman of Grand Junction, Col., and Chuck (Jeff Fournier) Tiedeman of Minneapolis; and her furry pets, Sadie, the best Golden Retriever ever, and her cats, Ole and Lazurus, who she raised from 1 day old.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Rosella Lutz.
