On May 24 at 9:09 a.m., police received a report of a theft in the parking lot of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Someone had stolen numerous tools out of a construction trailer belonging to a Willmar man. Stolen were nail guns, a circular saw, a Sawzall saw, drills, impact tools, and a battery charger with batteries. Most were DeWalt tools.
Dogs/cats at large
On May 20 at 7:54 a.m., police received a report of a dog attack at 703 Red Lake Blvd. Lindsay Rae Merchant, 29, Thief River Falls, has been cited for dogs/cats at large. Merchant’s two dogs allegedly got out of their fence and attacked a neighbor’s dog. The neighbor’s dog was taken to a veterinarian to be checked out.
On May 24 at 8:59 a.m., police received a report of theft outside of Wheatland Estates. Someone had stolen two hanging flower baskets.
Driving while impaired and driving after suspension
On May 15 at 2:19 a.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Second Street and LaBree Avenue. Christian Paul Johnson, 26, Thief River Falls, has been cited for DWI and driving after suspension. He was arrested.
On May 15 at 8:01 p.m., police received a report of a theft at Falls Liquor. Jordan Lorraine Krolak, 22, Grand Forks, N.D., has been cited for theft. She allegedly stole alcohol.
On May 17 at 3:30 p.m., police received a report of a burglary at 118 Conley Ave. S., Apartment 1. Someone had stolen money, jewelry, and craft items.
Hit and run accident
On May 17 at 5:47 p.m., police received a report of a hit and run accident in the 100 block of Third St. E. An unknown motorist collided with a parked 2021 Jeep Gladiator owned by a Thief River Falls man and then left the scene.
On May 17 at 5:55 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of an accident at the intersection of 140th Street Northwest and 130th Avenue Northwest. At the time of the accident, Bradyn Brummund of Red Lake Falls was driving a 1998 Chevy GMT eastbound on 140th Street Northwest. According to the report, he slowed to turn without using a turn signal. Emmanuel T. Koffa of Thief River Falls was driving a 2011 Cadillac SRX and tried to pass Brummund’s vehicle. The vehicles then collided with both coming to rest in a ditch. No injuries were reported.
On May 17 at 6:53 p.m., police received a report of a theft at 516 Kendall Ave. S. Someone had stolen a Graco baby stroller, a Hyper Tough jigsaw, a skill saw, and a drill from a garage. Change and laundry products were also stolen out of the man’s storage locker.
Accident and duty to drive with due care
On May 17 at 7:38 p.m., police received a report of an accident at the intersection of Eighth Street and Davis Avenue. At the time of the accident, Tanner J. Miller of Salol was driving a 2000 Buick Century westbound on Eighth Street. His car then rear-ended a west-bound 2003 Toyota Tundra driven by Ronald K. Helling of Thief River Falls. Helling had stopped to turn south onto Davis Avenue. No injuries were reported. Miller has been cited for duty to drive with due care.
On May 19 at 11:14 a.m., police received a report of a theft at Hugo’s. A 15-year-old Thief River Falls female has charges pending for theft. She allegedly stole Coricidin Cold & Flu tablets.
On May 19 at 3:15 p.m., police received a report of a theft in the Walmart parking lot. Someone had stolen a tote out of a vehicle. The tote contained DeWalt tools belonging to a St. Hilaire man.
On May 23 at 1:21 a.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of First Street and Pennington Avenue. Juan Carlos Calderon Vega, 43, unlisted city, has been charged with DWI. He was arrested.
