THE WIZARD OF OZ: Legal Action Taken in “Ruby Red Slippers” Case

GRAND RAPIDS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) A Federal charge has been filed in the case of the “Ruby Red Slippers” stolen from the Judy Garland museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
[Music] charges have been filed in the case of the stolen ruby red slippers from The Wizard of Oz from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids Minnesota this from the U.S court system a Federal grand jury returned an indictment against Terry Martin for the theft of an object of cultural heritage from the care custody and control of a museum Martin is charged with one count of theft of major artwork the indictment filed May 16th in U.S District Court in Minneapolis the indictment alleges that in 2005 Martin stole an authentic pair of ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids Minnesota at the time of the theft the slippers were insured for 1 million but current fair market appraisal value the slippers at 3.5 million dollars the ruby slippers which were recovered by the FBI in Grand Rapids Police Department in July of 2018 are one of four remaining Pairs and are widely viewed as among the most recognizable memorabilia in in American film history the charges announced today are the result of a federal investigation into the initial theft of the ruby slippers the investigations being conducted by the FBI’s Minneapolis division the indictment merely alleges that crimes have been committed I’m Neil Berg reporting for itrfnews.i234.me

  1. Really! The FBI for a 2005 "Mega Crime", yet there are people that are stealing constantly from our local retailers that don't even get their hands slapped. Why even report this crap.

  2. Did this theft happen recently or did they finally locate the thief from decades ago? Those shoes have a historical value which they should have. Movie memorabilia from the great, classic movies must be protected and preserved. If someone has enough money to buy it, that's their right. Not everyone sees value in the same things.
