Pembina County, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A Cavalier man is facing a felony terrorizing charge following a reported domestic incident involving threats with a firearm. According to new court documents, Peter William Booth of Cavalier has been charged with one felony count of terrorizing and one misdemeanor count of domestic violence assault.

The investigation began after a deputy responded to a report of an assault involving a female victim. The victim told authorities that Booth became violent during an argument inside the residence. She stated that Booth pulled a clump of hair from her head. The deputy reported seeing a visible bald patch and noted the victim appeared distressed.

The victim also reported a bruise on her neck. The deputy documented the injury and included it in the incident report. The victim stated she feared Booth would injure her further during the dispute.

The most serious allegation centers on the use of a firearm. According to the report, the victim stated Booth pointed a .22 caliber pistol at her and threatened to shoot her. Under North Dakota law, making threats with a weapon meets the legal threshold for a felony terrorizing charge. Details on that statute can be found at the North Dakota Legislative Branch website at legis.nd.gov.

Booth was later taken into custody. The case file states that the incident created a serious risk to the victim’s safety. Pembina County officials say additional evidence may be reviewed as the case moves forward. Court hearing dates will be listed in public records once scheduled.

The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Felony terrorizing charges in North Dakota carry significant penalties, including possible prison time. Information on sentencing guidelines is available through the North Dakota Courts website at ndcourts.gov.

More updates will be provided when new documents become available.
