Jamestown, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — An 18-year-old Bismarck man, Jamie Raye Barnes, is facing multiple charges after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in Jamestown on Saturday morning.
Around 8 a.m., a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop Barnes for reckless driving near the Kidder/Stutsman County line on Interstate 94. Barnes fled eastbound, exiting into Jamestown, where local police and sheriff’s deputies joined the pursuit.
The chase continued through residential areas, with Barnes reportedly running a red light at the intersection of 10th Street Southeast and 7th Avenue Southeast, colliding with a 2021 GMC Sierra pickup driven by a 30-year-old Jamestown man. Both vehicles came to rest nearby.
Barnes attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. Two juvenile males and one juvenile female from Bismarck were passengers in his vehicle. Barnes and one male juvenile were transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The pickup driver sustained minor injuries.
Investigators determined that Barnes had fled from law enforcement in Bismarck the previous night and was driving a vehicle taken without the owner’s consent. Authorities believe drug impairment was a contributing factor.
Barnes is currently held at the Stutsman County Correctional Center on suspicion of felony reckless endangerment, driving with a suspended license, possession of stolen property, and possession of marijuana.
