Teen Dies Weeks After Duluth Off-Road Vehicle Crash

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A 17-year-old girl, identified as Emma Jean Malmquist of Duluth, succumbed to her injuries on May 19 following a critical off-road vehicle crash earlier this month.

The crash occurred just before 10 p.m. on May 6 near North Pike Lake Road and Helm Creek Road in Canosia Township. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office reported that Malmquist and three others were riding on a side-by-side off-road vehicle when it crashed. All occupants were injured and transported to Duluth-area hospitals.

In addition to Malmquist, who later died, the other three riders — an 18-year-old woman, a 23-year-old woman, and a 27-year-old man — sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation, with initial reports suggesting that alcohol was a contributing factor.
