Teen Charged with Felony After Assaulting Jailer with Bloody Napkin

Detroit Lakes, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Alanna Marie Sturdevant, 18, of Detroit Lakes, faces felony fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor underage drinking charges in Becker County District Court.

On April 10, a White Earth police officer responded to a report of a fight at a residence in Waubun. Upon arrival, the officer found a male lying in a ditch and Sturdevant sitting on the shoulder of the road. The male fled, and Sturdevant approached the patrol vehicle.

The officer noted that Sturdevant’s speech was slurred and he could smell alcohol. She became argumentative but provided a preliminary breath test showing a blood alcohol concentration of 0.22%.

Sturdevant was arrested and taken to Becker County Jail. During the booking process, she threw a bloody personal sanitation napkin at a jailer, hitting her.

Throwing bodily fluids or feces at a law enforcement or corrections officer is classified as a felony.

Sturdevant was released on April 12 without bail under standard conditions, including no alcohol or mood-altering chemicals and random testing. Her request for a public defender was approved.
